The Axial Seamount, the Northeast Pacific's most active underwater volcano, is swelling with magma and may erupt again in 2025. Located 480 kilometers off Oregon's coast and submerged under 1,400 meters of water, Axial has erupted three times in the last thirty years, with its most recent eruption occurring in 2015.
While these eruptions don't pose threats to human settlements, they are significant for influencing ocean chemistry and ecosystems, releasing carbon dioxide and minerals vital for marine life.
