Thomas Edison once brought home a letter from school, which his mother read aloud with tears: “Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him—please teach him yourself.” Years later, after her passing, Edison found the original letter. It actually read: “Your son is mentally impaired. We cannot keep him in school.”
Overcome with emotion, Edison wrote in his diary: “A mentally challenged child, thanks to a devoted mother, became a genius.”
A reminder: Never underestimate the power of a mother's belief.
