Day 16 – Token vs Coin (Most People Confuse This!)
🪙 Not every crypto is a “coin” — here’s the difference.
In crypto, coins and tokens are not the same thing.
✅ What is a Coin?
A coin is a cryptocurrency that has its own blockchain.
Examples:
• Bitcoin (BTC) → Bitcoin blockchain
• Ethereum (ETH) → Ethereum blockchain
• BNB → BNB Chain
Coins are mainly used for:
• Payments
• Network fees (gas)
• Storing value
✅ What is a Token?
A token is built on top of an existing blockchain.
Examples:
• Shiba Inu ($SHIB ) on Ethereum
• Many projects on $BNB Chain
Tokens are used for:
• DeFi projects
• NFTs & gaming
• Governance voting
• Utility inside apps
Key Takeaway:
👉 Coin = its own blockchain | Token = runs on another blockchain.
