CZ says Binance Square is already enabling creator monetization

Current models include trading-based commissions and project-backed creator rewards

He describes Square’s evolution as incremental rather than a sudden shift to a “Web3 YouTube”

Changpeng Zhao has said that Binance Square is already progressing toward creator monetization, responding to a question about whether the platform could evolve into a Web3-native alternative to YouTube.

During a recent AMA, a community member asked whether Binance Square could eventually support monetization models similar to YouTube’s AdSense system, but built in a crypto-native way using tokens, on-chain incentives, or trading activity.

Square Already Monetizing Creator Activity

CZ clarified that he does not directly manage Binance Square, but noted that the platform appears to already be moving in that direction.

“I don’t really manage Binance Square, but I think it’s already moving in that direction,” he said.

He referenced recently introduced features that allow content creators to earn based on user trading activity influenced by their content, though he acknowledged he had only seen the announcement recently and was not fully familiar with the mechanics.

Two Monetization Paths on Binance Square

A Binance team member later clarified that there are currently two main monetization models available to creators on Binance Square.

The first is a trader-focused model, often referred to as “Write to Earn,” which allows eligible creators to earn up to 50% of trading commissions generated by users who trade based on their content.

The second is a creator-focused path, where content creators participate in project campaigns and are rewarded with project tokens based on the quality and performance of their content.

These models allow creators to monetize either through trading influence or direct collaboration with projects, rather than relying on traditional ad-based revenue alone.

An Incremental, Product-Led Evolution

Rather than framing Binance Square as an immediate replacement for traditional video platforms, CZ described its development as gradual and product-driven.

He emphasized the importance of feedback from users and creators, encouraging the community to continue sharing input to help improve Binance and its ecosystem products over time.

“Give us as much feedback to all the Binance products or any ecosystem products as you can, and this will help them grow,” CZ said.
