Previously, the protests were dispersed by the police and law enforcement units, now the army is officially connected to them.
The country's armed forces also accused Israel and "terrorist groups" of protests.
According to the human rights organisation Human Rights Activists in Iran, at least 65 people were killed, more than 2,300 were detained, protests covered about 180 cities. Most of the dead are participants in the actions. There are confirmed reports of the use of military weapons against demonstrators.
Against the background of the protests, the authorities almost completely turned off the Internet and communication, even landline phones.
Earlier, the Tehran prosecutor's office threatened that there could be a death penalty for "damage to state property" and clashes with security forces.
