Greenland’s government has just made a direct appeal to NATO to step up and guarantee its defense.
Denmark has also pledged to ramp up efforts to ensure the defense of this Arctic territory happens under the NATO umbrella — stressing that all NATO members (yes, including the U.S.) share a common interest in keeping Greenland secure.
This move is widely seen as Greenland firmly reaffirming NATO's central role in its protection — especially in response to Trump’s repeated claims that Russia and China represent a growing threat to the region. (The U.S. has also been vocal about its unease over Greenland’s expanding economic ties with China, particularly around rare earth minerals.)
