🇵🇰 Pakistan Partners With #TRUMP Family-Linked Crypto Firm to Explore Stablecoins

Pakistan has entered into a strategic agreement with World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture linked to US President Donald Trump’s family, marking one of the first publicly disclosed partnerships between the firm and a national government.

🔑 What’s the Deal?

According to a Reuters report, the partnership will evaluate the use of World Liberty’s USD1 stablecoin for cross-border transactions. The initiative comes amid improving diplomatic and economic ties between Pakistan and the United States.

🏦 Central Bank Collaboration

Under the agreement, Pakistan’s central bank will work with World Liberty Financial to integrate the USD1 stablecoin into a regulated digital payments framework. The token would operate alongside Pakistan’s existing digital currency infrastructure, potentially enhancing transaction efficiency and transparency.

Specific details involving SC Financial Technologies, a lesser-known firm associated with World Liberty, were not disclosed. Pakistan is expected to formally announce the deal during a visit to Islamabad by World Liberty CEO Zach Witkoff.

💱 Why It Matters

Pakistan has been accelerating its push toward digital currency adoption, aiming to:

Reduce reliance on cash

Improve cross-border payments

Strengthen remittance inflows, a key source of foreign exchange

In July last year, the central bank confirmed preparations for a digital currency pilot, alongside new laws to regulate virtual assets.

🌍 Bigger Crypto Context

Stablecoins — digital assets typically pegged to the US dollar — have expanded rapidly worldwide. Under President Trump, the US introduced crypto-friendly federal regulations, while governments globally are exploring stablecoins for mainstream payment systems.

World Liberty has also reportedly boosted revenues for the Trump Organization, including overseas earnings. Notably, in May 2024, Abu Dhabi-based state investor MGX used the World Liberty stablecoin to acquire a $2 billion stake in Binance.
