The decision to build Walrus on Sui is not random. Sui serves as the layer on top of which Walrus develops blob storage as well as the erasure code to provide a scalable framework for the distribution of data through a decentralized manner. The objective is to provide storage that is affordable, censorship-resistant, and reliable.
WAL serves as the token within the ecosystem, enabling staking and the governance of the system without control. This will ensure that the entire system grows independently without control from the institutions administering the ecosystem.
