What Is a Blockchain?

Crypto feels confusing because people talk about many different things at once.

Bitcoin. Ethereum. NFTs. Stablecoins.

They all get called “crypto”, even though they do very different things. To understand any of them, you first need to understand one idea. What a blockchain actually is.

At its core, a blockchain is a shared record

Normally, one company keeps records.
A bank keeps balances.
A platform keeps transactions.

With a blockchain, no single company is in charge.

Many computers keep the same record at the same time.

Everyone sees the same version.
Anyone can check it.
Once something is written down, it is very hard to change.

That is the key idea.
