🟢With the recent crackdown and fatigue around Tap-to-Earn & Telegram mini-apps, it’s funny how quickly the same crowd that was farming every possible airdrop is now calling the model “dead.”
The problem was never the concept. Incentivized onboarding worked — it brought millions of Web2 users into crypto, just like early Play-to-Earn once did.
‼️The real issue was greed and poor design:
– Bots over humans
– Influencers over real users
– Hype over sustainability
👉Sure, cleaning up the ecosystem is necessary. But let’s not pretend there’s no human cost. Many small creators and community managers built real income streams around these systems.
🥱What’s disappointing is watching the same influencers who extracted value now mock the fallout, instead of helping projects evolve toward fairer reward distribution.
✅Lesson for future incentive-based projects:
If you only reward the loudest voices, don’t be surprised when the community disappears.
Personally, platforms like Binance Square, Farcaster, and Lens feel like healthier long-term spaces for Web3 creators who actually want to build, not farm.
Incentives aren’t the enemy.
Bad incentives are.
