Bitcoin Faces Rising Distribution Risk As Large Amount of Coins Move
Bitcoin exchange inflows have spiked sharply in recent sessions, marking one of the most notable increases so far this month. When a large volume of BTC moves onto exchanges, it typically reflects growing intent to distribute rather than long-term holding, especially after a strong price advance.
The total exchange inflow chart shows multiple high-magnitude inflow bars aligning closely with local price highs. Historically, such behavior suggests that market participants are using strength to move coins into liquid venues, increasing near-term sell-side pressure. While inflows alone do not guarantee an immediate reversal, they often precede periods of heightened volatility or corrective price action.
Breaking inflows down by spent output value bands adds more context. Recent spikes are not driven by small retail-sized transfers but are dominated by mid-to-large size bands, particularly 10-100 BTC and 100-1K BTC.
