🔹 What Is an Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP)?
Ethereum is not run by a company—it’s a decentralized blockchain.
So how does it upgrade and evolve? Through Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).
An EIP is a formal document that suggests:
New features
Protocol changes
Network upgrades
These proposals are reviewed and discussed by Ethereum’s core developers and the wider community, including Vitalik Buterin.
🔥 A major example is EIP-1559, which transformed Ethereum’s gas fee system:
Base Fee is calculated automatically and burned (reducing ETH supply)
Priority Fee (Tip) can be added to speed up transactions
This made transaction fees more predictable and efficient.
🚀 Even massive upgrades like The Merge (PoW → PoS) were the result of multiple EIPs and years of discussion.
👉 In short:
EIPs are the roadmap that shapes Ethereum’s future.
