Why I’m skeptical of “AI-first” claims in crypto

I’ve reached the point where the word “AI” on a pitch deck barely moves me. Most chains aren’t built to hold context or work with meaning—they’re built to record state changes and execute deterministic code. That’s fine for transfers and basic DeFi, but the moment you try to support agent workflows (where decisions depend on history, documents, rules, and evolving context), you hit the same wall: the chain becomes the receipt printer, and the “brain” runs somewhere else.

That’s why #Vanar feels interesting to me. Not because it’s shouting louder, but because it’s trying to solve the unsexy part: how to make on-chain systems handle memory and reasoning in a way that agents can actually use. 

Neutron: making data usable, not just stored

The part I keep coming back to is Neutron—Vanar’s “semantic memory” concept. Instead of treating data like a dead blob that lives off-chain with a hash pointing to it, Neutron frames data as something that can become programmable context. Vanar describes compressing large files into small, verifiable “Seeds” (their example is 25MB down to ~50KB) so the information becomes lightweight enough to move around and reference without breaking the economics. 

What I like here is the intent: this isn’t storage for storage’s sake—it’s storage designed to be queried, referenced, and reused inside workflows. And importantly, their own docs describe a hybrid approach (Seeds can be stored off-chain for performance, and anchored/on-chain when you want verification, ownership, and long-term integrity). That balance matters if the goal is real usage instead of ideology. 

Kayon: the “reasoning layer” that turns questions into actions

If Neutron is the memory idea, Kayon is where Vanar tries to turn memory into insight. The way they position it is simple: most chains can store and execute, but they can’t reason over data. Kayon is meant to make both Neutron Seeds and external/enterprise data queryable with natural language—so the output is not just “data,” but an auditable answer that can plug into workflows. 

Two details stood out to me:

  • They explicitly lean into MCP-based APIs so Kayon can connect to dashboards and backends without reinventing the wheel. 

  • They’re also marketing compliance-by-design, including the claim of monitoring rules across “47+ jurisdictions.” Whether any chain can fully operationalize that promise is something I’d verify in practice, but the direction is clear: they’re building for environments where regulation and reporting aren’t optional. 

myNeutron + MCP: the update that feels 

most practical

Here’s the “newer” piece that makes Vanar feel less theoretical: myNeutron.

Instead of asking everyone to build custom memory systems, myNeutron is positioned as a portable knowledge base that can carry your context across multiple AI tools (ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini, etc.)—and it ties back into Vanar’s memory narrative. The MCP connection is the key upgrade, because it’s the difference between “cool product” and “integratable layer.” MCP basically lets AI tools securely talk to your myNeutron knowledge base—search Seeds, save conversation context, pull exact snippets, and reuse structured bundles. 

If you’ve ever watched teams lose weeks just because context keeps resetting between tools and chats, you’ll understand why I’m paying attention here. This is a real-world pain point—Vanar is attaching itself to it.

The boring infrastructure signals I actually respect

This is where I personally separate hype from momentum: the stuff that looks “boring,” but compounds.

Vanar has been pushing the stack idea (Vanar Chain + Neutron + Kayon, with Axon/Flows shown as upcoming layers on their own site). That tells me they’re thinking in systems, not features. 

They also keep building distribution and credibility paths:

  • Joining NVIDIA Inception is presented as a way to expand their ecosystem and access resources/visibility in the AI startup lane. 

  • Ecosystem integrations like Router (bridging) show they’re not trying to live in isolation. 

And on the token side, one concrete utility detail I noticed: Vanar’s myNeutron page explicitly frames $VANRY as a payment asset for storage—marketing “50% cost savings” when paying with the token. It’s not the whole value proposition, but it’s at least a tangible “why the token exists” beyond vibes. 

What I’m watching next for $VANRY

I’m not treating Vanar like a “one announcement” story. For me, the real tell will be whether developers actually ship apps where:

  • memory lives as Seeds (or is verifiably anchored),

  • reasoning queries produce outputs people trust,

  • and workflows feel smoother than the usual off-chain spaghetti.

If those three things show up in real products (not just demos), then Vanar stops being “another L1” and starts looking like an infrastructure layer agents can build businesses on.
