#Paypal Designates #solana as Default Network for Stablecoin Processing
Payments giant PayPal has announced that Solana blockchain will now be the default network for stablecoin transactions. This decision was shared on Solana’s official #X account and shows that the blockchain’s fast and programmable capabilities are gaining global adoption.
• The stablecoin being used is PYUSD, a dollar-pegged coin launched by PayPal in 2023.
• With Solana integration, users can transact at near-zero cost.
• Despite positive developments, SOL’s price is currently in a bearish spell and is trading around $86.
• PayPal has already been active in crypto adoption: in 2020 it offered Bitcoin and Ethereum buy/hold options, in 2021 it allowed merchants to accept crypto payments, and in 2022 it added support for external wallets.
• In 2023, the PYUSD stablecoin was launched, and in 2025 support for $SOL and $LINK was added.
Future Outlook:
Solana’s sub-second transaction speed and tokenization capability are pushing it toward becoming an industry standard. If this trend continues, Solana could enter direct competition with Ethereum and play a dominant role in the payments ecosystem.
