🔥Imagine knowing that you have a fortune, but you cannot access it 👀
This is the case of Rain Lohmus, an early investor in the
#ICO of
#Ethereum for the year 2014, investing nearly $ 75,000 dollars in
#ETH and at its peak reached a net worth of one billion dollars, however, he cannot access his fortune because he lost access to his wallet.
Rain Lohmus is a banker from Estonia, founder of LHV Bank, and in the year 2014 decided to invest money in the sector
#Criptomonedas , this through the ICO of ETH. At that time, ETH was being offered at $ 0.3 per token. Thus, his $ 75,000
investment turned into 250,000 ETH, which he received in his wallet on July 30, 2015.
Here comes the problem, and it is that, back then, access to wallets used to depend on password-protected files (JSON Keystore) and seed phrases of 12 or 24 words were not the current standard. Thus, he acknowledges having lost his password and therefore cannot access his wallet with those ETH
purchased.
Since then, the 250,000 ETH remain in the wallet unmoved, as recorded by Arkham Intelligence. As of today, those ETH are worth $ 543 million dollars.
Rain Lohmus criticizes the role of decentralization in the crypto sector, however, he also admits that it was completely his fault for having forgotten his password and not having a backup of it.
What would you do if you had a fortune and could not access it?
