🧭 BTC Dominance (Monthly Chart) – What to Observe
In the crypto market, dominance refers to the market capitalization share of a coin relative to the total value of the crypto market. It indicates the degree of influence of an asset compared to others. In the case of Bitcoin, BTC.D is one of the main indicators for assessing capital rotation in the market.
Historically, rotation occurs in stages: Bitcoin → Ethereum → large-cap altcoins → small-cap altcoins. For this flow to develop, it is necessary for BTC dominance to consistently decline.
In the monthly chart, it is observed that Bitcoin's dominance maintained an upward trend from 2022 until July 2025, when there was a break of this pattern downwards. Despite this, BTC.D remains close to 59%, a still elevated level that is not very favorable for a broad performance of altcoins.
Important Levels:
Alert zone (beginning of rotation): drops below 60% begin to open space for altcoins, but still do not confirm a strong movement.
Confirmed altseason: ranges between 45% and 50% usually signal a full rotation, with greater flow to alternative coins.
Historical lows: in extreme cycles, such as 2017/2018, dominance reached the region of 38%, driving significant valuations in altcoins.
Attention: it is important for BTC dominance to fall to favor altcoins, without Bitcoin's price suffering sharp declines, as in this scenario, altcoins tend to drop as well.
