The TON network has returned to normal operations after a major outage that halted block production for more than three hours due to a sudden surge in network activity. The cause was determined to be the launch of the meme coin $DOGS on the TON blockchain, which overloaded validators.
To fix the issue, validators were asked to reboot the system at 4:00 AM UTC on August 28 to restore consensus. Two hours later, the network was restored and operating normally. Major exchanges such as Binance and Bybit suspended Toncoin trading during the outage, but resumed it after things stabilized.
