Recently, on February 14, 2025, President Milei promoted a cryptocurrency called $LIBRA on his social media, describing it as a private project aimed at encouraging the growth of the Argentine economy by funding small businesses and local startups.

After the promotion, the value of $LIBRA skyrocketed from nearly zero to over $4.00, but fell to less than $0.50 just a few hours later, resulting in significant losses for many investors. This collapse led to allegations of fraud and calls for the impeachment of President Milei. The president denied promoting the cryptocurrency, claiming that he only shared information about it.

Furthermore, reports emerged that individuals close to the project profited significantly through practices such as 'sniping,' where bots are used to quickly buy and sell newly launched tokens for profit. Hayden Davis, who claimed to have advised on the $LIBRA project, admitted to participating in these practices, which generated even more controversy.

This incident highlights the risks associated with investing in cryptocurrencies, especially those promoted by public figures without a clear understanding of the project. The volatility and lack of regulation in the cryptocurrency market can lead to substantial losses for unsuspecting investors.
