The federal government will propose the creation of a 3.5% Tax on Financial Transactions (IOF) on the purchase of virtual assets, according to a draft decree obtained by the newspaper Valor Econômico. Currently, this type of operation is not taxed by the tax.

According to the newspaper, the text provides for an exemption from the IOF for purchases made by individuals amounting to up to R$ 10 thousand.
