🚨 LayerZero announces Zero – Ambition to enter the Layer 1 game
LayerZero Labs has announced plans to develop a new Layer 1 blockchain called Zero. If implemented as announced, this will not merely be a chain anymore, but a transition from the role of an interoperability protocol to a base settlement infrastructure.

What is Zero?
Zero is positioned as a Layer 1 with a heterogeneous architecture (multi-core/multi-zone), separating execution and verification.
Application of zero-knowledge proofs (ZK)
Using ZK-VM (for example, heading towards Jolt)
Long-term expansion goals instead of short-term optimization
The LayerZero orientation announced:
⚡ Target performance: ~2 million TPS per zone (theoretical design)
💲 Transaction fees under $0.01
🎯 Focus on Global Market Infrastructure & Tokenization, not just crypto-native apps.
The core differentiating point: Zero aims to be the processing layer for RWA, digital securities, tokenized assets, where high performance + ZK verifiability is required.
⸻
The strategy behind: Why is LayerZero building L1?
LayerZero has always been an omnichain messaging protocol, serving as a cross-chain connector similar to how Chainlink provides oracles.
Building L1 shows 3 things:
1️⃣ Not just wanting to be a 'bridge', but wanting to control the settlement layer
2️⃣ Directly optimized for RWA & institutional assets
3️⃣ Long-term positioning in the narrative of tokenization
In the current context:
RWA is one of the topics being promoted by BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and many organizations
Regulatory clarity in the US & EU is progressing
Traditional finance is looking to move onto blockchain
Zero clearly wants to accelerate to not target the retail memecoin group.
⸻
What about Token $ZRO ?
The market often reacts before official news.
If $ZRO price fluctuates before the announcement, it reflects expectations about:
Expanding the ecosystem
Additional utility for the token
Role in governance or economic layer of Zero

However, the issues ahead:
The current TPS metric is still the design target
No functioning mainnet yet
Current L1 competition is extremely fierce (Solana, Sui, Aptos, Ethereum L2…)
⸻
My personal strategic perspective:
LayerZero is no longer just a 'bridge protocol'.
They are betting on becoming the infrastructure for the on-chain capital market.
If tokenization truly explodes in the next 3–5 years, Zero could be a long-term play.
If not, this will just be another L1 in an already saturated market.
Key points to watch next after the information:
Testnet/mainnet roadmap
RWA partners need specific information
Economic mechanisms related to $ZRO
Real-world adoption instead of theoretical metrics
⸻
LayerZero is transitioning from 'connecting' to 'building infrastructure'.
The question is not hype, but:
Will Zero really attract institutional capital?
