#SolanaGameFi Play Solana will launch a handheld console in October
The PSG1 comes with gaming-ready specifications, an integrated crypto wallet, and fingerprint security, marking Solana's latest advancement in consumer hardware and Web3 gaming.
The Solana ecosystem is making a leap into the hardware world with the upcoming launch of its first handheld gaming console.
Play Solana, a project dedicated to creating a Web3 gaming device on the Solana blockchain, has announced that it will start marketing its Play Solana Gen 1 (PSG1) device on October 6.
The device features gaming-ready specifications, including an eight-core ARM processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a touchscreen LCD display. It also includes an integrated hardware wallet and fingerprint authentication, allowing users to store crypto assets while playing.
In addition, it has launched a limited collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that allows a group of 2,000 holders to have early access and other advantages within the ecosystem.
Web3 takes over handheld gaming devices
Aside from Play Solana's PSG1, the Sui blockchain network has also ventured into physical Web3 gaming devices.
In 2024, Mysten Labs, creator of the Sui blockchain, announced that it would launch SuiPlay0X1, a handheld gaming device integrated into the Sui network, in the first half of 2025.
