The general direction (trend) is the most powerful information you can get from the chart. 80% of traders lose because they try to reverse the trend, entering against the direction based on their feelings or on small candles. If the trend is upward: buy the corrections. If downward: sell the rebounds. No matter how excellent the analysis is… entering against the trend is the fastest way to lose.
