According to Vitalik, the long-standing challenge of balancing decentralization, security, and scalability can now run smoothly on Ethereum mainnet because the technology is finally ready:
- PeerDAS: launched in the recent Fusaka upgrade in December, enabling cheaper and faster transactions on Layer1.
- ZK-EVMs: expected to be partially implemented this year, significantly reducing hardware requirements and enabling more people to participate in running the network.
Vitalik emphasized that Ethereum needed 10 years to reach this point, and the journey is far from over; security improvements will continue to be prioritized in the coming period.
