Walrus Feels Designed for Use, Not Applause
Walrus didn’t convince me with vision statements. It did so by feeling immediately usable. That’s a rare reaction in decentralized storage, where ideas often outpace execution.
Built on Sui, Walrus keeps its scope tight: private transactions, decentralized data storage, and little else. The combination of erasure coding and blob storage isn’t treated like a selling point it’s simply the most efficient way to move and store large files without inflating costs. That design choice alone separates it from many overextended peers.
After years of watching storage protocols stumble on incentives and long-term reliability, I remain cautious. Walrus still has to prove durability at scale. But early signs of real usage suggest this isn’t just another experiment. If adoption continues quietly, Walrus may become infrastructure people rely on without ever needing to explain it.
