Walrus changes this by building a decentralized storage network that focuses on large files like videos datasets archives and AI data.
It stores data as blobs that are split into smaller pieces and distributed across many storage nodes. This makes data more resilient because no single operator controls the full file. I’m not just uploading a file into a black box. I’m storing it in a system where availability can be verified onchain through Sui.
They’re also making storage programmable. Data can be owned extended shared monetized or controlled through smart contracts. This opens the door to new types of apps where data is not just stored but actively managed and reused.
