Guys, have you ever wondered why we write 'HODL' instead of the usual 'Hold'? It's not a boring abbreviation from experts; it's a story about an epic fail that became a golden rule.

It was December 2013. Bitcoin $BTC was shaking a lot back then, and one guy on the Bitcointalk forum under the nickname GameKyuubi, having had quite a bit of whiskey, decided to vent. He was furious that professional traders were panicking and dumping coins.

He wanted to write: 'I'm holding', but his fingers didn't cooperate, and it resulted in the legendary: 'I AM HODLING'.

In his post, he honestly admitted: 'Yes, I'm a bad trader. Yes, I can't catch the bottom. But I will just HODL because I believe.' He didn't even suspect that this typo would become the main meme of the decade and the motto of millions of people.

What does this story teach us?

In crypto, you don't have to be a genius at technical analysis. Sometimes it's enough to just have nerves of steel and know how to 'HODL' when everyone around is shouting, 'It's all over!'.

If that guy had sold out of fear back then, he would be kicking himself now. But instead, he wrote his name (and his mistake) in history forever.
