The head of the expedition, Chen Li Xin from the Institute of Karst Geology, said:
"I have been to dozens of sinkholes, but this one is special. The bottom is uneven, with many secluded corners, and the vegetation is so dense that it is difficult to walk".
The entire surface of the bottom is covered with lush greenery, creating an isolated ecosystem that has developed separately from the outside world for thousands of years. Scientists are sure: unknown species of plants and animals may be hidden here—a real "lost world" underground.
🗿I wish we could build an underground data center there 😂 beautiful, technological, and pleasant ☺️
This sinkhole is one of 30+ in the unique Leifengshan Geopark (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), where the karst landscape has created dozens of similar "heavenly pits". Nature does incredible things!
