Cryptocurrency expert John Squire (@TheCryptoSquire) recently shared a video of an interview with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and eToro CEO Yoni Assia. Squire advised investors to swap Bitcoin for XRP, suggesting that the opportunities discussed in the conversation are reasons to buy XRP.
The interview, recorded shortly before the launch of RLUSD by Ripple in 2024, provides insights into Ripple's strategy, the role of XRP, and the constantly evolving regulatory environment.
Strategic focus of Ripple
Garlinghouse explained that Ripple has been focused on enhancing international payments since he joined the company in 2015. Traditional bank transfers are slow and expensive, and Ripple's products aim to reduce bureaucracy for financial institutions. XRP serves as a digital asset in this ecosystem, offering scalability and low transaction costs.
Garlinghouse emphasized that Ripple also provides custody solutions for financial institutions and is entering the stablecoin market with RLUSD to expand its offering to businesses.
Garlinghouse also addressed a common confusion between Ripple, XRP, and XRP Ledger. Ripple is the company that develops solutions for financial institutions. XRP is a digital asset, while the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is the open-source network.

XRP ETFs and institutional adoption
The interview also discussed the increase in applications for XRP ETF registrations. Garlinghouse described ETFs as a step towards institutional adoption. He highlighted the success of the Bitcoin ETF, noting that it reached $10 billion in assets faster than any other ETF in the U.S.
He described the XRP ETF as inevitable at the time, and his prediction came shortly after the end of the legal proceedings against Ripple. By the end of 2025, several spot XRP ETFs were approved and launched, with notable results.
Launch and growth of the stablecoin market
Garlinghouse noted that the stablecoin market grew from $120 billion to almost $200 billion and could reach several trillion in five years. The market has grown much more since then, and RLUSD has become one of the key players in the stablecoin space.
According to the CEO, Ripple aims to make RLUSD robust, efficient, and reliable, leveraging its large balance sheet and trusted brand to drive adoption. He confirmed that the company will integrate the stablecoin into its corporate products, alongside XRP, enhancing transaction efficiency for financial institutions, and Ripple has fulfilled this promise.
Long-term perspective and regulatory support
Both leaders emphasized a long-term approach to the adoption of cryptocurrencies. Garlinghouse explained that mass adoption will occur after improvements in ease of use and infrastructure, while Yoni Assia highlighted the role of regulation in enabling the participation of financial institutions.
With a more favorable regulatory environment, XRP is about to dominate the market. Ripple's grand vision for XRP and its ecosystem makes XRP an attractive asset and corroborates Squire's opinion that investors should sell their Bitcoins in exchange for XRP.
