The Justice system in Goiás decided not to return the items that the defense of Welton Ferreira Nunes Júnior requested, the one that became famous due to the extortion scandal against Father Robson back in 2017.
The judge Placidina Pires, who signed the decision on the night of Tuesday, January 27, 2026, kept some valuable devices and some cryptocurrency wallets stored by the state. However, in this order, it does not mention whether they checked if there was indeed money inside, whether in bitcoin or another type of internet currency.
Welton, who had already fallen into the 'Operation Cerberus', wanted back an iPhone 15, two ASUS notebooks, and, especially, two Ledger Cold Wallets, which are those physical wallets for storing cryptocurrency.
His defense said that the items were actually his and complained that the chain of custody was broken, because the seals would have been torn when they tried to conduct an examination.
On the Justice's paperwork, it states that the experts could not access the devices because there was no password to unlock them. This case is directly linked to the 'Operation Veritas' of 2021, which investigated money laundering with cryptocurrency.
And to top it off, in November 2025, Welton was convicted again, receiving 5 years in prison in a semi-open regime.

Welton Ferreira Nunes Júnior was already a known figure in police reports. This guy was the mastermind behind one of the most talked-about extortion cases of the past decade, involving none other than Father Robson de Oliveira Pereira.
Back in March 2019, the Justice of Goiânia made a decision: 16 years, 4 months, and 20 days in prison for him, for leading the scheme against the religious figure.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Goiás, Welton and his crew invaded the priest's cell phone and computer, rummaged through everything, and took personal information. Then, using a fake profile and pretending to be a detective, they started demanding a lot of money to not release what they had discovered.
The pressure was so intense that the priest ended up transferring R$ 2 million from Afipe to the criminals. This money was even blocked later, but besides that, the gang also extorted cash payments, ranging from R$ 50 thousand to R$ 700 thousand.
For two months, between March and April 2017, the priest lived this ordeal. Money was left in places agreed upon by the group, like inside a parked car in a fancy condominium or even at Shopping Cerrado in Goiânia. In the end, four more accomplices were also convicted, but Welton received the heaviest sentence of all.
