Currently, a vast majority of non-fungible tokens rely on off-chain frameworks for interpretation and access. The risk here is significant: if those intermediary layers cease to function, the asset itself becomes effectively lost to the user.

To counter this, ERC-4804 establishes a native mechanism for resolving NFT metadata straight from Ethereum. This innovation eradicates the need for DNS, gateways, or other centralized points of entry.
