From December 26, a large portion of dealer gamma exposure expires and disappears.
Until now, dealers have been short gamma, which has forced them to sell into price weakness and hedge dynamically, creating downward pressure on Bitcoin.
Once these options expire:
- The gamma hedging flow vanishes
- Dealers no longer need to chase price lower to stay delta-neutral
- A key source of mechanical selling pressure is removed
In short, the recent downside in Bitcoin has been driven by dealer gamma effects, and after December 26 this constraint fades, allowing price to move more freely without that artificial pressure.
