đ Zelenskyy Urges Global South to Push Russia Toward Peace
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to nations in the Global South to step up pressure on Russia to end the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In a post shared after his talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Saturday, Zelenskyy emphasized the urgent need to halt the conflict.
đŹ âThis war must be stopped. The killings and destruction must come to an end,â he wrote.
Zelenskyy reiterated his willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in any format to seek a resolution, but criticized Moscow for deliberately delaying peace efforts.
đ âIt is crucial that the Global South sends strong signals and pushes Russia toward peace,â he stressed.
The comments come as diplomatic negotiations stall, despite renewed efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump and supported by European allies. During his recent meeting with Putin in Alaska, Trump voiced frustration over the lack of progress and warned that new sanctions could be imposed on Russia within two weeks if no breakthrough is achieved.
With the war dragging on and Russiaâs economy under pressure, Ukraine is intensifying its push for wider international backingâespecially from emerging nationsâto end the conflict.
