UK Prime Minister is contemplating a substantial rise in defense expenditure, according to BBC reports. According to Jin10, Downing Street is evaluating the possibility of advancing current spending targets, which could cost billions of pounds. At the Munich Security Conference, Prime Minister Starmer expressed his stance, stating, "To address broader threats, it is clear we need to invest more funds and accelerate the pace of investment." Last year, the Prime Minister pledged to raise core defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by April 2027. However, he also proposed an "ambitious" plan to increase this spending ratio to 3% of GDP within the next parliamentary term. BBC has learned that the Prime Minister's aides are studying related proposals to achieve the 3% defense spending target before the end of the current parliamentary term, which may last until 2029.
