El Salvador has officially launched the "Bitcoin Diploma 2.0" educational program on February 24, 2026, aimed at upgrading the national financial literacy curriculum. According to Odaily, the initiative is led by the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) and involves distributing new teaching materials to public schools nationwide, integrating Bitcoin-related content into sociology and mathematics courses.
The updated curriculum covers topics such as the Lightning Network, monetary history, central banking systems, and free market economics. It employs visual aids and case studies to explain concepts like hash rate, difficulty adjustment, and the UTXO model. The education department has stated that approximately three hours of related coursework will be scheduled each week.
Additionally, the program aligns with the deployment of AI teaching tools in about 5,000 schools. The report highlights that this educational initiative is being launched as the Salvadoran government continues to advance its Bitcoin reserve strategy.
