Walrus What it actually is. Walrus is a decentralized blob-store built to work natively with the Sui blockchain. It represents stored files as lightweight on-chain objects that reference larger payloads kept by storage nodes; those objects can be created, transferred, or referenced inside Move contracts the same way other Sui objects are. That design intentionally blurs “storage” and “application state,” enabling Move contracts to include storage lifecycle logic (access control, expiry, rental/dividend mechanisms) directly on chain.
