i think decentralized social media is losing the plot a little

if we use outages as our reasoning for their existence, what do we do when instagram is down? we go to x. when x is down we (happily) take a break and touch grass

if its our data, then why do we (willingly) post about our lives, finances, homes, children in the first place?
