Walrus builds data that will last through all market cycles, validator changes, and changing application layers. Rollups, data availability layers, archives, and state-heavy protocols need immediate access and need to be able to guarantee that it will be available and able to be reconstructed many years in the future. Walrus treats data acceptance as a one-way street. Once data has been written and validated, it cannot disappear, or be forgotten. Walrus keeps data as a long-term memory layer for decentralized systems. History is kept through protocol-level guarantees, not because of optimism.
