Finality in Walrus doesn’t come from trusting nodes. It comes from Sui’s transaction finality combined with verifiable commitments.

Once a storage contract is created, paid in WAL, and finalized on Sui, the economic agreement is locked. Nodes can’t later dispute whether the contract exists or how long it runs.

What happens after that is enforcement, not negotiation. Proofs of availability are submitted against a finalized contract. Rewards and penalties reference that immutable on-chain state.

I see this as an important distinction: finality applies to the agreement, while availability is continuously proven over time.

One is settled once.

The other is re-earned..
