Speed vs. Privacy: The Old Trade-off
In the past, if you wanted privacy on a blockchain, you had to settle for slow transaction times. Zero-Knowledge proofs are computationally heavy. However, @dusk_foundation has effectively killed this trade-off with their custom-built virtual machine: Piecrust.
What is Piecrust?
Piecrust is the engine that powers $DUSK smart contracts. Unlike standard virtual machines, it is optimized specifically for ZK-proofs, making it one of the fastest of its kind in the world. In my testing of the ecosystem, the speed of private transactions is now nearly indistinguishable from public ones.
The Economic Impact
Why should a holder care? Because efficiency equals lower gas fees and higher throughput. As more RWA projects (like the €300M+ securities on DuskTrade) move to the mainnet, the demand for $DUSK as the "gas" for this high-speed, private engine becomes a massive fundamental driver. We are moving away from speculative hype and into real, technical utility.
