Speculation around Ripple’s long-term strategy just got a strong endorsement. Yoshitaka Kitao, president of Japan’s SBI Group, has publicly backed Ripple’s recent acquisition push reinforcing the idea that Ripple is no longer just building individual products, but assembling a complete financial ecosystem.

Kitao isn’t an outsider offering casual commentary. He was an early Ripple investor in Asia, previously served on its board, and SBI Group is deeply embedded in the XRP ecosystem. SBI operates XRP validator nodes, manages XRP-linked financial products, and uses XRP in real payment rails through services like SBI Remit and MoneyTap.

Now, Kitao is supporting Ripple as it spends $2.45 billion to bring key pieces of financial infrastructure under one roof. These include prime brokerage firm Hidden Road, treasury software provider GTreasury, stablecoin payment network Rail, and digital asset custody company Palisade. Together, they form what insiders are calling “Ripple 1” a unified platform model for institutional finance.

The comparison to Amazon isn’t about retail; it’s about structure. Like Amazon built a full-stack platform for commerce and cloud services, Ripple appears to be building a financial operating system. Within this system, XRP and Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD play central roles. RLUSD is already being used as collateral in prime brokerage transactions, while XRP moves across payments, custody, and treasury functions.

There has also been chatter about Ripple using Amazon’s Bedrock AI, but so far this is limited to internal analytics and monitoring. Importantly, there are no changes to the $XRP Ledger itself, and rumors of deep AWS integration at the protocol level have been dismissed.

With one of Japan’s most influential financial leaders openly backing this strategy, the picture becomes clearer. Ripple isn’t chasing relevance it’s quietly building infrastructure. And this time, it’s doing it with powerful institutions already on board.
