A New Era of Modular Architecture
Dusk has officially announced a pivotal evolution in its network infrastructure, transitioning to a three-layer modular stack. This strategic shift is designed to dramatically reduce integration timelines and costs while maintaining the network’s hallmark privacy and regulatory capabilities. By separating consensus from execution, the new architecture introduces DuskDS (Data & Settlement), DuskEVM (Execution), and DuskVM (Privacy).
This evolution addresses a critical bottleneck in blockchain adoption: speed to market. By integrating EIP-4844 and porting Optimism as an EVM execution layer, Dusk now supports standard Ethereum tooling. This means wallets, exchanges, and dApps can integrate in weeks rather than months, utilizing familiar tools like Hardhat and MetaMask. The result is a leaner, more scalable codebase that allows existing EVM applications to migrate with minimal code changes. This modular approach ensures that while the ecosystem becomes more accessible, it retains the high-security standards required for a privacy-centric network.
