Dusk Foundation looks clean right up until a Moonlight flow gets asked to prove itself on a clock.
The settlement already happened. DuskDS finality is there, committee attested, nothing ambiguous in the state. The request that arrives afterward doesn’t care about that comfort. It wants the disclosure output that the rule set says is allowed to be shown, now, inside a reporting window that doesn’t move.
Dusk's Moonlight transaction model isn’t a “privacy mode” in that moment. It’s a constraint. Identity-aware execution means eligibility was checked at execution, not retrofitted. Good. But the follow-up demand isn’t “did it clear,” it’s “show the permitted view,” and the permitted view only exists when the selective-disclosure condition is invoked and the proof is actually produced.

That production step is the choke point nobody budgets for.
Teams used to transparent chains reach for the usual crutches—screenshots, traces, partial receipts, something to keep the call from going quiet. Dusk doesn’t give those half-objects. Phoenix won’t either, for different reasons. Confidential execution removes the ambient trail, and Dusk won’t widen scope just to make the room feel safer. No “temporary access.” No “just enough detail.” The protocol either emits the proof under the rule or it doesn’t emit anything yet.
So the conversation degrades fast.
Ops can’t say the transfer failed because it didn’t. Compliance can’t sign because the artifact isn’t in hand. The counterparty hears “final” and thinks that should end the discussion. It doesn’t. Finality closed settlement; it didn’t pre-print a disclosure packet for whoever asks later. Different step. Different timeline. Same deadline.
This is where people start trying to bully time.
“Can we rerun it?” doesn’t make sense. “Can we expedite it?” isn’t a protocol input. “Can we reveal a bit more?” is the one that always shows up, and Dusk refuses it in the exact way that makes regulated flows awkward: it won’t trade scope for speed just because the request is urgent.
Then you get the real pressure surface: nothing is wrong, nothing is improvable, and the proof is still not there. The window is still closing.
