Publicly listed energy firm Union Jack Oil has announced plans to convert undeveloped natural gas from its West Newton site into electricity for Bitcoin mining — potentially becoming one of the UK’s first oil-to-crypto monetization projects.
In an operations update on Aug. 8, the company said the initiative is being developed in partnership with Rathlin Energy and Texas-based 360 Energy, which specializes in using stranded or flared gas to power on-site data centers via its In-Field Computing technology.
