Influencers on social media have recently been repeating that college degrees are overrated and that they cost young people thousands of dollars with no return or benefit
But financial advisor and author of several investment books, Peter Mallouk, rejects this view and emphasizes the importance of education in escaping poverty and achieving wealth.
The author of the book "The 5 Mistakes All Investors Make and How to Avoid Them" stated on his social media account on X, "50% of children whose parents do not have a high school diploma live in poverty, and 32% of children whose parents only have a high school diploma live in poverty, and 11% of children whose parents have some college education live in poverty."
The financial advisor did not disclose the source of this data or the year it pertains to.
Mallouk urged people to be more careful in choosing who they listen to and take advice from, adding, "Don’t let anyone tell you that education is unimportant."
