You don't need to be a distinguished scholar to understand this.

Just observe yourself. You will notice that whenever you perform an action without expectation, your experience of life is qualitatively different from the times you perform it with expectation. A typical example is to recall the times you played something you liked. You immerse yourself in that game with passion and your whole mind, and of course you play to win, but you don’t get distressed if you lose. That’s because you enjoyed the process of playing so much that you’re willing to play again. If you play joyfully, then the result becomes less important. If you can bring this awareness into every aspect of life, your experience of life will transform significantly. Above all, you can only earn rewards if you play well, not because you desire to win.

As for trading:

You don't need to be an experienced trader to understand this.

Just observe yourself when trading. You will realize: whenever you enter a trade without attachment to expectations – meaning you enter the trade as a natural part of your strategy, not fearful, not overly excited – your trading experience is remarkably different. Your mind is steady, your thoughts are clear, and you easily accept the outcome whether you win or lose.

Remember the times you traded with the mindset of 'experimenting' or 'the trade is good, results can be figured out later' – at that time you traded very smoothly. Not because of luck, but because you were in your optimal state: alert and not influenced. Conversely, when you trade with high expectations – like 'this trade must win to recover', 'if this trade is wrong, I'll be in trouble', you almost always break discipline, enter and exit at the wrong points, and push yourself into an emotional whirlwind.

If you truly immerse yourself in the trading process, like playing a game you love – you will focus intensely, analyze thoroughly, react flexibly, and not crumble just because of a stop-loss. Because you understand that what you are pursuing is skill, progress, and strategy – not a temporary result.

And if you can bring that awareness into each trading session, your mindset will transform. Your account will rise accordingly.

Because ultimately, you can only win if you trade well – not because you desire to win.
