Why Walrus Design Choices Favor Builders Over Speculators

Walrus does not optimize for rapid cycles of attention. Its design choices are aimed at developers who need stable assumptions rather than short-term participants seeking volatility. Predictable costs, clear failure models, and durable storage guarantees all reduce cognitive overhead for builders. This makes the protocol less attractive for narrative-driven speculation, but more useful for long-term application development. Over time, infrastructure that prioritizes builders tends to outlast infrastructure that prioritizes excitement.
