A tragic incident occurred in the eastern Aegean Sea when a Greek Coast Guard vessel collided with a boat carrying illegal migrants, resulting in at least 14 fatalities. According to RTHK, Greek authorities are continuing their search efforts in the affected area.
Local media reported that the collision happened on Tuesday night local time, after the coast guard vessel spotted a speedboat departing from Turkey with illegal migrants and initiated a pursuit, leading to the accident.
The Greek Coast Guard stated that the incident also left two coast guard officers and several migrants injured, including seven children and a pregnant woman. All injured individuals have been transported to the hospital for treatment.
