đš Almost Lost Everything â My Close Call with a Fake Payment App đđ”ïž
Not proud of this, but if this helps even one person stay safe in P2P trading â it's worth sharing. đ
đ Just a few weeks ago, I was selling USDT through a P2P platform.
A buyer contacted me:
â Verified user
â Solid reviews
â Quick to respond â seemed trustworthy.
He said heâd pay via bank transfer, but then claimed his bank app was âlaggingâ and asked if he could send me a video as proof of payment in progress.
The video showed him opening his bank app, entering my account details, and clicking âSend.â
đ„ It looked legit. I even saw the right amount typed in.
He begged me to confirm â said he needed it urgently for an emergency.
Against my better judgment⊠I clicked âConfirmâ before checking my bank.
âł 10 minutes. Nothing.
âł 30 minutes. Still nothing.
đ I called my bank â they confirmed: No transaction had happened.
I tried messaging the buyer again â guess what?
đ Blocked. Gone. Like he never existed.
â ïž The Mistakes I Made (Please donât repeat):
â Trusted a video demo instead of real funds in my account.
â Let urgency and emotion cloud my judgment.
â Didnât double-check with the bank before releasing crypto.
đĄ Real Safety Tips for P2P Traders:
1ïžâŁ No matter what they show you â confirm only after funds land in your bank.
2ïžâŁ Never rush just because someone says itâs an âemergency.â
3ïžâŁ Use in-app chats only. If they ask to move to WhatsApp or Telegram early on â đ© red flag!
I didnât lose money this time â but I came terrifyingly close.
đŹ Stay sharp. One emotional decision can wreck your wallet.
In P2P, caution is currency.
