#Ethereum reveals its 2026 protocol roadmap

The Ethereum Foundation grouped its R&D into three pillars: Scale, Improve UX, and Harden the L1, to guide protocol work in 2026 while aligning teams and resources.

Scale focuses on things like higher blob capacity and efficient data throughput. Improve UX centers on native account abstraction and cross-L2 experience. Harden the L1 doubles down on decentralization, censorship resistance, and security readiness.

This roadmap builds on 2025’s upgrades like Pectra and Fusaka, and points toward future milestones including Glamsterdam and Hegotá.
