The United States will be ready to start a war against Iran by Saturday, according to a report from the Telegraph citing defense officials who informed President Donald Trump.
According to reports, the officials informed Trump that the American military buildup with aircraft and ships will reach the necessary level by the end of the weekend for airstrikes against Iran to begin.
Military preparations are underway with approximately 50 fighter jets, air refueling tankers, and other additional aircraft moving to the Middle East this week. A second aircraft carrier strike group, the USS Gerald R. Ford, is expected to arrive in the Eastern Mediterranean in the coming days.
This combined force of fighter jets, support aircraft, and ships would allow the USA to carry out uninterrupted bombings against Iran for weeks if Trump gives the order. The buildup also includes enhancements to ground-based missile defense systems positioned in the Middle East over the past month, which would help protect the USA, its allies in the Gulf, and Israel from potential Iranian retaliation with missiles.
